The Content editor is the main editor for all document types and opens by default when you open a document.

User interface
PLA 3.0 supports you in your daily work by providing a set of graphical and textual user interface elements. Learn about the different elements and how to use them efficiently.
- Main window
  When you log in to PLA 3.0, the main window opens, providing a set of basic items.
- Document pane
  When you create a new or open an existing document, the document pane opens on the right side of the PLA 3.0 main window. This pane is your main area when working with documents.
- Dashboard
  Use the document dashboard on the right side of the PLA 3.0 main window to get an overview of your document data and view recent changes. In the case of biological assay documents, the dashboard shows document definitions and a graphical summary of calculation results.
- Content editor
  The Content editor is the main editor for all document types and opens by default when you open a document.
  - Create elements
    Create document elements to enhance the document structure according to your requirements.
  - Duplicate elements
    Duplicate an element to reuse its setup.
  - Create multiple elements
    Quickly add multiple elements of the same type.
  - Create references between elements
    Some elements work as target elements; you set them up once in your document and reference them several times.
  - Create references to documents
    Some elements are set up such that they reference other documents. This allows you to define a central set of documents that can be reused in other documents. The referenced document and the document referencing it can be of different document types.
  - Remove elements
    If an element is not required in your document structure or if you accidentally added an element, you can remove it.
  - Troubleshoot your document setup
    When you modify your document structure or add values to your elements, PLA 3.0 automatically validates your document and displays additional information to support you during the setup process.
- Data editors
  Use data editors to enter observation data and set up assay layouts. Each editor has the same data but provides a different view on your data.
- Keyboard shortcuts
  Keyboard shortcuts are keys or combinations of keys. Use them as an alternative way to do something that you would typically do with a mouse.
- Tasks
  Learn how to configure your preferences, change your account details and password, and set up print profiles.

Data analysis
Data analysis add-ons offer a wide range of capabilities, ranging from analytical methods over comprehensive analysis to statistical process control. PLA 3.0 also provides a set of add-ons that support and supplement data analysis add-ons.

Use data acquisition and data import add-ons to import external response values and observation data into PLA 3.0 for further processing and evaluation.

Troubleshoot your document setup

When you modify your document structure or add values to your elements, PLA 3.0 automatically validates your document and displays additional information to support you during the setup process.

The Help view displays additional information about an element. This view is available in all editors. To open it, select Help in the action bar.

Tip: Use Ctrl + and Ctrl - to zoom in and out of the help text.

If an error occurred, additional information is available in the Error view. This view is available in all editors. To open and close this view, select Errors in the action bar.

Tip: Both buttons are toggle buttons. Use them to open and close the respective view.
