PLA 3.0 supports you in your daily work by providing a set of graphical and textual user interface elements. Learn about the different elements and how to use them efficiently.
Main window
When you log in to PLA 3.0, the main window opens, providing a set of basic items.
Navigator
The Navigator on the left side of the PLA 3.0 main window is your main tool for accessing and organizing your documents and folders.

User interface

- Login dialog
  Use the Login dialog to select the database you want to work with and sign in. Refresh your information package, manage databases, perform an Installation Qualification, and find information on the PLA 3.0 system.
- Main window
  When you log in to PLA 3.0, the main window opens, providing a set of basic items.
  - Navigator
    The Navigator on the left side of the PLA 3.0 main window is your main tool for accessing and organizing your documents and folders.
  - Menu bar
    At the top of PLA 3.0 main window, the menu bar provides a series of sub-menus that you can use to access key features and functions of PLA 3.0, such as document and folder-related actions, database policies, and account management.
  - Toolbar
    Located below the menu bar, the toolbar of the PLA 3.0 main window provides a set of actions related to documents and folders.
- Document pane
  When you create a new or open an existing document, the document pane opens on the right side of the PLA 3.0 main window. This pane is your main area when working with documents.
- Dashboard
  Use the document dashboard on the right side of the PLA 3.0 main window to get an overview of your document data and view recent changes. In the case of biological assay documents, the dashboard shows document definitions and a graphical summary of calculation results.
- Content editor
  The Content editor is the main editor for all document types and opens by default when you open a document.
- Data editors
  Use data editors to enter observation data and set up assay layouts. Each editor has the same data but provides a different view on your data.
- Keyboard shortcuts
  Keyboard shortcuts are keys or combinations of keys. Use them as an alternative way to do something that you would typically do with a mouse.
- Tasks
  Learn how to configure your preferences, change your account details and password, and set up print profiles.

Data analysis
Data analysis add-ons offer a wide range of capabilities, ranging from analytical methods over comprehensive analysis to statistical process control. PLA 3.0 also provides a set of add-ons that support and supplement data analysis add-ons.
Data import
Use data acquisition and data import add-ons to import external response values and observation data into PLA 3.0 for further processing and evaluation.
Installation
Details on the deployment, installation, initial and advanced setup of PLA 3.0.
Licensing
Details on the licensing solution of PLA 3.0, the available licensing options, and the activation and management of licenses.
Administration

Navigator

The Navigator on the left side of the PLA 3.0 main window is your main tool for accessing and organizing your documents and folders.

Tip: If you work with many documents or a multi-level folder tree, you can maximize the Navigator by double-clicking its tab.

Items

The following items are available:


No.	Item	Description
1	Toolbar	The breadcrumbs on the left side allow for quick navigation. Use the filter options on the right side to, for example, display only signed documents or documents of a specific type. Tip: If you prefer a layout similar to Microsoft Windows File Explorer, select the toggle icon .
2	Top view	The top view displays the folders in a tree-like structure. Use it to navigate your folder tree. Select a folder to display its contents in the detail view.
3	Detail view	The detail view at the bottom displays the content of the currently selected folder. Use it to navigate your folder contents (documents and templates) and to perform actions on the selected item.
4	Status bar	An overlay in the lower right corner of the document icon provides details on the document status. A green overlay indicates that you opened the document. Red documents are currently opened by another user. A question mark indicates that the add-on providing the document type is not activated in your database. You cannot work on those documents.
