- Databases
  Current regulations, such as 21 CFR 11.10 in the pharmaceutical industry, require you to ensure that only authorized individuals can access your systems, perform operations, and sign records. The database-driven approach of PLA 3.0 enables you to take major steps toward meeting these requirements.

  The add-on management feature of PLA 3.0 provides a central interface to activate, deactivate, or remove add-ons. You can request trials or quotes, and view release dates and dependencies, ensuring consistent and version‑controlled functionality across your PLA 3.0 database.
  - Activate add-ons
    PLA 3.0 add-ons extend the functionality of the PLA 3.0 framework to include the analytical methods your users require and enable them to visualize, document, and report results. To make the functionality of the add-on available for use, you have to activate it in your database.
  - Filter options
    A set of filter options lets you extend or shorten the list of displayed add-ons based on specific criteria.
  - Update add-ons
    Keep your add-ons up to date to access the latest improvements in analytical methods and calculations, and to ensure ongoing compatibility with your PLA 3.0 installation.
  - Download sample data
    For some add-ons, sample documents and templates are available. If you did not download the data when activating the add-on, you can download it from the Add-ons tab.
  - Set up the add-on repository
    By default, each computer running PLA 3.0 hosts its own add-on repository in a default folder. You can change this setup, for example, if you want to set up a central repository.
  - Compatibility matrix
    This compatibility matrix shows which add-ons are compatible with each versions of PLA 3.0. It lists add-ons by category, version, and release year, noting any required dependencies.
- Rights and permissions
  PLA 3.0 provides the features you need to control access to your data in a sophisticated and compliant manner. It combines role-based user rights with resource-based permissions, which enables you to exercise fine-grained control over who can perform particular tasks in a given context and which tasks are allowed with particular data.
- Backup and restore

Regulatory compliance

Filter options

A set of filter options lets you extend or shorten the list of displayed add-ons based on specific criteria.

Navigation: System > Add-on management > filter symbol

Note: To manage add-ons you require the Manage add-ons database permission.

Available filters

The following list describes the most common filters:


Filter	Description
Add-ons for Database Migration	If you are using a PLA version earlier than 3.0.5, you can migrate your packages to add-ons. When migrating to PLA 3.0.7, this checkbox is active. For details, see the 3. Migrate your packages to add-ons topic.
Compatible Add-ons	To see newer versions of add-ons that are not compatible with your version of PLA 3.0, clear the Latest Add-ons checkbox.
Latest Add-ons	To see older versions of add-ons, clear the Latest Add-ons checkbox.
License Status group	To see add-ons that you have not licensed and where you might be interested in a trial version, activate the Not Licensed checkbox. For details, see the Add-on trial topic.
State group	To see technical previews of the add-ons, activate the Draft checkbox in the State group. This allows you to evaluate add-ons before their actual release. Note: To activate these add-ons, you need to activate the Activate draft components checkbox in the Advanced tab of the Database Policies dialog. For details, see the Advanced topic.
