Combination groups

Use combination groups to combine Test samples of independent assay documents in a combination calculation. When performing the calculation, PLA 3.0 combines the Test samples assigned to the same group and you receive combinations for all the Test samples of the different groups in one single combination calculation.

Assignment to groups

To prepare your Quantitative response assay documents for combination calculation, assign the Test samples you want to combine to groups. For example, if you want to perform combination calculations for different products, use a group for each product and assign the Test samples accordingly.

In the following example, you use groups A and B to combine the Test samples of three independent assay documents in one combination calculation for products A and B.

Data aggregation

To perform combination calculations, Combination of assay results documents employ data aggregation. Data aggregation in PLA 3.0 lets you automatically transfer data and results from source to target PLA 3.0 documents, thus supporting complex and compliant operations. Manually entering data in spreadsheets or other programs is not necessary. For a detailed description of this concept, see the Data aggregation topic.

To prepare for data aggregation, you use the References editor of your Combination of assay results document. In this editor, you add references to the assay documents that contain the Test samples you want to combine. For details on how to work with this editor, see the References editor topic.

In the following example, the combination document references three Quantitative response assay documents. For each assay document, two lines are displayed, one line for each group:
Note: Depending on your configuration, the calculation combines relative potencies and/or absolute potencies of Test samples.

Reporting

Combination groups are also displayed in the report. If you enter extra details for a group like the substance name or batch in the Combination of assay results document, these details are also displayed in the report.
