Get started

User interface
PLA 3.0 supports you in your daily work by providing a set of graphical and textual user interface elements. Learn about the different elements and how to use them efficiently.
- Main window
  When you log in to PLA 3.0, the main window opens, providing a set of basic items.
- Document pane
  When you create a new or open an existing document, the document pane opens on the right side of the PLA 3.0 main window. This pane is your main area when working with documents.
- Dashboard
  Use the document dashboard on the right side of the PLA 3.0 main window to get an overview of your document data and view recent changes. In the case of biological assay documents, the dashboard shows document definitions and a graphical summary of calculation results.
- Content editor
  The Content editor is the main editor for all document types and opens by default when you open a document.
- Data editors
  Use data editors to enter observation data and set up assay layouts. Each editor has the same data but provides a different view on your data.
- Keyboard shortcuts
  Keyboard shortcuts are keys or combinations of keys. Use them as an alternative way to do something that you would typically do with a mouse.

Data analysis add-ons offer a wide range of capabilities, ranging from analytical methods over comprehensive analysis to statistical process control. PLA 3.0 also provides a set of add-ons that support and supplement data analysis add-ons.

Use data acquisition and data import add-ons to import external response values and observation data into PLA 3.0 for further processing and evaluation.

General shortcuts

Press this key	To do this
Tab	Go to next control or widget. Example: Go from the top view of the Navigator to its detail view.
Shift+Tab	Go to previous control or widget.
Ctrl+Tab	Go to next tab.
Ctrl+Shift+Tab	Go to previous tab.
Ctrl+W/Ctrl+F4	Close element currently in focus.
F5	Refresh screen.
Alt/F10	Focus the menu bar at the top of the PLA 3.0 main window.
Shift+F10	Open the context menu, if available.
Alt+Arrow down	Expand the currently selected list box.
Arrow keys	Navigate within a widget. Example: Navigate through the folder tree of the Navigator.
Alt+Space key	Change size and position of dialog.
Space key/Enter	Confirm action.
Escape	Close dialog. Cancel action.
Ctrl+L	Focus filter action in toolbar of table or tree widget, if available.
Ctrl+K	Focus toolbar of table or tree widget, if available.
Ctrl+S	Save.
