Text Data Acquisition Module
Use the Text Data Acquisition Module to acquire data from generic (*.txt) text and comma-separated value (*.csv) files, independent from the device you are using.
Configuration
The Text Data Acquisition Module comes equipped with a default configuration that covers the most common use cases. You can change this configuration if you require.
Set up configuration profiles
PLA 3.0 comes equipped with a default configuration profile that covers the standard use case. You can create custom configuration profiles if you require.

Create a custom configuration profile if you want to change the default setup, for example, to use a different import strategy for the acquisition of a second dataset.

        File structure tab
        You can define the structure of the text file for the import strategy using the File structure tab of the configuration dialog. Here, you define the area(s) of the text file that contains the dataset(s) with the actual values.
        Dataset tab
        You can define the location of the data within the text file structure using the Dataset tab of the configuration dialog. Here, you define how the dataset with the actual values is structured.
        Values tab
        You can define the handling of invalid values of the source file using the Values tab of the configuration dialog.
        Configuration profile example
        In this example, we import data from a text file with 3 datasets.
    - Set up properties files
      By default, PLA 3.0 users can use all configuration profiles available for a Data Acquisition Module and can create, edit, and delete all configuration profiles. Using the properties file of a Data Acquisition Module, you can restrict these rights if you require.
  - Data acquisition
    Acquire data to import response values from external systems into existing PLA 3.0 documents.

Dataset tab

You can define the location of the data within the text file structure using the Dataset tab of the configuration dialog. Here, you define how the dataset with the actual values is structured.

Columns

Describes the columns of a dataset that can be imported using the configuration.


Setting	Description
Unlimited column count	All columns will be considered during data acquisition.
Exact column count	The number of columns that will be considered. Count defines the number of columns.
Separator	The separating character between columns. Typical separators are commas (,) or semicolons (;), or tabulators.
Import	Allows you to import all, only specific columns, and all except specific columns.

Rows

Describes the rows of a dataset that can be imported using the configuration.


Setting	Description
Unlimited row count (only 1 Dataset)	All rows will be considered during data acquisition (only makes sense if there is only 1 dataset in the text file).
Exact row count	The number of rows. Count defines the number of rows.
Import	Allows you to import all, only specific rows, and all except specific rows.
