Back up your database

Find details on how to back up PLA 3.0 databases.

About this task

PLA 3.0 supports Microsoft SQL Server and SQLite databases. Depending on the database type, the steps to create a backup differ. For details on the supported database types, see the Database types topic.

Note:

This task assumes you are using the default file paths listed in the File paths topic. If you are unable to locate the files, contact your system administrator.

Procedure

To back-up an SQLite database:
1. In your file system, navigate to the folder %ProgramData%\Stegmann Systems\PLA 3.0\Databases.
  
  Tip:
  If your SQLite database is located on a network drive, it may already be included in a regular backup. Contact your system administrator for more information.
2. Copy the *.s3db database file from there to a backup medium or to a folder that is backed up on a regular basis.
  
  Important:
  Make sure you store your database credentials, especially the password of the initial administrator account, in a secure location.
To back up a Microsoft SQL Server database, use the tools provided by Microsoft. For details, contact your system administrator.
