Microsoft Excel® Data Acquisition Module
Use the Microsoft Excel® Data Acquisition Module to acquire data from generic Excel (*.xls and *.xlsx) files, independent from the device you are using.
Configuration
The Microsoft Excel® Data Acquisition Module comes equipped with a default configuration that covers the most common use cases. You can change this configuration if you require.

PLA 3.0 comes equipped with a default configuration profile that covers the standard use case. You can create custom configuration profiles if you require.

Create a custom configuration profile if you want to change the default setup, for example, to use a different import strategy for the acquisition of a second dataset.

    - Set up properties files
      By default, PLA 3.0 users can use all configuration profiles available for a Data Acquisition Module and can create, edit, and delete all configuration profiles. Using the properties file of a Data Acquisition Module, you can restrict these rights if you require.
  - Data acquisition
    Acquire data to import response values from external systems into existing PLA 3.0 documents.

Values tab

You can define the handling of invalid values of the source file using the Values tab of the configuration dialog.

Invalid value handling

The following settings are available to handle invalid values:


Setting	Description
Import as void	Invalid values will be imported as empty values.
Import as void and mark as technical outlier	Invalid values will be imported as empty values and marked as technical outliers.
Import invalid value	Invalid values will be imported without any changes. Floating-point handling settings apply.
Import invalid value and mark as technical outlier	Invalid values will be imported without any changes, but marked as technical outliers. Floating-point handling settings apply.
Skip value	Invalid values will be skipped.

Floating point handling

The following settings are available to handle floating point numbers


Setting	Description
Import unmodified value	Imports the original value.
Round value to Microsoft Excel® precision	Imports the rounded value (max. 15 significant digits).
