Folder properties

Set up folder properties to restrict the content of folders to particular document types and to documents generated from particular document templates. Set the names of folders. Customize the identification key formats of folders and of the documents and templates they contain.

Navigation: File > Folder properties

By default, folders inherit the properties of their parent folder. If you change the properties of a folder, the changes apply to all subfolders. Changes do not apply to existing documents in the folder and its subfolders.

Note: To edit folder properties, you require the Edit folder properties document permission. Also, the Edit documents document permission has to include folders as permitted document type.

The Folder properties dialog has the following tabs:

Tab Description

General

Displays the unique identification key of the folder, its security context, and allows you to edit the folder name. For details on how to change the security context, see the Assign security contexts to folders topic.

Document key format

PLA 3.0 identifies documents, templates, and folders by unique keys. You can adapt the formats used to generate these identification keys according to your requirements. For details, see the Document key formats topic.

Document restrictions

Use document restrictions to enforce the use of templates and prevent users from creating documents that are not generated from templates. You can also set up restrictions such that folders can contain specific document types only. For details see the Document restrictions topic.
